Have you been to a meet recently and have pictures that you want added to our site? That's great! Steve Hobson, the ORCC Webmaster, will be happy to add them. If you have a select few pictures, mailto:stevenmhobson@yahoo.com. If you have lots of pictures to share, save them to a CD and have your athlete give it to either Tanner or Reid Hartman who will make sure Steve gets it. You’ll get the CD back once the pictures are uploaded. Be sure to place your name on it. Tips:- Before taking your first snapshot, ensure the date and time (current time zone) are set correctly on your camera. This is beneficial in that the service used to serve the pictures sorts them using this embedded data, which provides a chronological view of the meet even if pictures are received from multiple sources. It will look seamless by weaving in all pictures from different sources.
- If available set your camera to Action mode so your photos won't be blurry.
- Set the white balance to either sunshine or cloudy mode depending on the day so the shot won't be too dark or light. This will ensure that each photo will be clear.
- Set your picture quality to the highest available so we won't miss a detail.
- If you are using your phone, turn on geo-tagging so we know where the shot was taken. The server used to provide pictures to the site has the ability to read that data.
Telling the Story:- Shoot candid shots before the main race. All the athletes are in great spirits and those parents that can't make the meet really want to see them in their element.
- Take a picture or two when coach is talking to the team.
- Take a couple shots of the starting line. One of the entire lineup and one of the team grouped together.
- During the race make sure to snap each Oak Ridge runner and if possible wait till they're a little closer so we can see more detail. Too often the runners are snapped so far away that it's sometimes hard to see who it is. Snap pictures of the runners as they cross the finish line and if possible include the race clock. This is where having your date and time set really makes a difference.
- After the runners have had a few minutes to recover then snap some more candid shots.
